2. What Information We Collect

When you register for our socials or contact us, we may collect the following personal information:

  • Full name

  • Date of birth

  • Parish

  • Email address

  • Telephone number

  • Your connection to stroke (e.g. survivor, carer, professional, supporter)

  • Any accessibility or communication preferences you choose to share

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

  • Manage event registrations and attendance

  • Communicate updates or changes about our socials

  • Manage accessibility or special requirements

  • Identify opportunities to improve community support — if the information shared through registrations or conversations unintentionally highlights gaps in stroke care or community support, we may share these insights in an anonymised and summarised form with relevant organisations (for example, health professionals or community partners) to help guide the development of future stroke services.

  • We will only share such information with your explicit consent, and no personally identifiable data will ever be shared without it.

  • Send you information about future socials or stroke-related community updates (if you consent)

  • We will only use your data for these purposes and will never sell or share it for unrelated activities.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on one or more of the following legal bases:

  • Consent – when you agree for us to contact you or use your data for updates.

  • Legitimate interests – where necessary to manage events and build our community.

  • Contract – where we need to process data to provide you with a service (e.g. event participation).

5. Who We Share Information with

We do not share your personal data with third parties unless:

  • It is necessary for running our socials (e.g. sharing names with a venue for accessibility or catering reasons).

  • We are required to do so by law.

Any third party we work with will be required to keep your information secure and only use it for the agreed purpose.

6. Data Retention

We keep your personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above.
Generally, your information will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days after each event, unless you have agreed to receive updates about future socials.

7. How We Keep Your Data Secure

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Password-protected systems and secure storage

  • Access limited to authorised volunteers

  • Secure deletion of data when no longer required

8. Your Rights

Under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018, you have the right to:

  • Request correction of inaccurate information

  • Request deletion of your data (where legally possible)

  • Withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the basis for processing)
